Diane Long was hired July 1, 1996 as the sole GED Instructor. Her first assignment was to
develop the GED Program for which she accomplished joyfully and successfully. She
assisted 1,300 students with obtaining their GED. Ms. Long taught not only the students for
20 years but also trained 16 teachers, 5 Program Managers, and 6 Program Captains along
the way. Her passion to teach is evident as she would place as many students as she could.

She lead the way to RRJ obtaining 100% pass rate in Region 19 in 2014 and 2015 under the
new GED program.

Ms. Long loves to travel abroad and share what she has learned with her students and
coworkers. She is remembered for bringing back a Jamaican hat with dreadlocks to share
that custom with her students-bringing the lesson alive.

Ms. Long loves life and people, keeping active-especially dancing, and helping others. With
all that she has done, including living and breathing Riverside Regional Jail, Ms. Long will
truly be missed. Help RRJ, say thank you and happy retirement to one of RRJ’s Finest!
