How do I send mail?

All mailed correspondence must be addressed to the inmate’s full name and ID number along with current housing location (if known).

What books are inmates allowed to receive?

Soft-back reading materials mailed directly from the publisher or distributor that do not violate the content regulations of the facility.

Are there size limitations on mail sent to inmates?

All mailed items larger that US letter size (8.5 X 11 inches) are subject to inspection and return to sender.

Can I send photos?

We will accept photos as long as they are not Polaroid type, no larger than 4″ x 6″, not obscene, and not framed. Inmates are only allowed 5 pictures in their possession, so if more than 5 are sent, the extras will be stored in the inmate’s personal property.

General Mail Information

All incoming mail is inspected for contraband, and if found, the sender may be criminally prosecuted.

Incoming mail will not be rejected on the basis of contents, to include censorship, unless mail falls under the following criteria:

  • Any material that violates postal regulations or contains obscenity, blackmail, contraband or threats. Obscenity is defined as writing or pictures that as a whole, under community standards appeal to unusual interests in sex are offensive because they depict sexual conduct in a potentially offensive way and taken as a whole, lack serious literary artistic, political or scientific value.
  • Any material, which contains plans of criminal activities, maps, or plots to escape. Material, which communicates information designed to encourage inmates to disrupt the facility by strikes, riots, fights, racial or religious hatred or other prohibited acts.
  • The jail will not accept items for inmates that are free or incentives for purchasing or receiving publications or other items.
  • • The jail will reject any item not approved to be received through the mail; this includes shoes, clothing, eyeglasses, etc.

How do I find out the results of court proceedings for my friend or family member?

The inmate should be your first point of contact. Please wait until they contact you. If further assistance is needed, you may contact the facility directly and speak with Records personnel.

How do I find out an inmate's release date?

Release information is not given to the general public. Inmates are notified of their release dates and are responsible for notifying their friends or family in regards to release plans.


How do I drop off court clothing for a friend or family member?

The inmate is responsible for filling out the appropriate property request forms and submitting them to the Property department for approval before clothing can be dropped off. Once approved, clothing items in accordance with jail policy may be brought to the Lobby of the main jail facility, Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, excluding holidays.

How do I pick up property?

The inmate is responsible for filling out the appropriate property request forms and submitting them to the Property department for approval before any items can be picked up at the jail. Once approved, property can be picked up at the the Lobby of the main jail facility, Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, excluding holidays.


How do I send money to an inmate?

You may send money online using your credit card via our commissary portal, or by using cash and/or credit card at the jail using the touchscreen kiosks located in the Lobby.

You may also send money by obtaining a money order or other form of certified funds. These funds may be delivered via mail or brought to the jail’s lobby personnel Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 9:30 pm, or Saturday & Sunday 8:00 am – 9:30 pm. All funds must be made payable to the inmate’s name in care of Riverside Regional Jail with the inmate’s jail assigned identification number.


How do I receive phone calls from an inmate?

Inmates are able to make collect and debit calls. Collect calls are billed to the called party. Debit calls are paid for by the inmate through their commissary account. You can also set a prepaid account with GTL so the inmate can call you. In order to set up an account, visit GTL AdvancePay.

How do I block my number from being called?

Do you offer a "Scared Straight" program for teenagers?

We do not offer any programs like that.
