Riverside Regional Jail’s quarterly Therapeutic Community (Drug Program) completion ceremony (graduation) was held March 31, 2021; due to the COVID Epidemic, the graduation guest (family, friends, and guest speaker) was zoomed in for the special occasion. The theme of the ceremony was “Steppin to a Different Beat.”
The program honored participants from the Therapeutic Community Program men (10) and (1) female. All of the graduates completed all four phases of the program. All TC participants were able to witness this great milestone, both programs were combined via zoom in order to support each other.
The graduates and audience members were honored in song by TC graduate Barakath-Wright, singing “Imagine Me” and our speaker, Peer Recovery Specialist, John Goode with HYPE of Richmond, Va., provided words of strength and hope. The celebration ended with refreshments, pictures, and the graduates being able to see and speak with their families, via zoom.
